In the wake of the 2013 movie “Alpha Paw”, I’ve been thinking a lot about the meaning of life. I’ve been pondering what it means to be a human, and the idea of a human who isn’t afraid of death.
Ive been pondering this a lot, too. When I was younger I used to play video games, and I used to go crazy playing all of the games that had ‘death’ as an ending. My favorite was Metal Gear Solid 4, a game that had a very interesting death mechanic where you could select your weapon and it would automatically kill you by a certain time.
The concept of death in video games is definitely interesting, but I can’t help but think about the fact that life in games is not always as “natural” as you might think it is. It’s not entirely clear what the purpose of gaming and the games we play is. We have to wonder what purpose we’re pursuing these days. Games may be an escape from reality, but they certainly don’t have to be.
We all have wondered what our purpose is in life. But, when we do, we usually find ourselves in a very different world. One of the great things about video games is that they take us on journeys that are not even remotely like our own. The reason we all play video games is because they are fun.
Video games are fun because they are creative and allow us to break out of our comfort zones. The games we play are all about exploration and discovery. We are often exploring ourselves as we play, and that is why we like video games.
Video games are not the only thing that allows us to explore our own minds. We are also able to explore the minds of others. The people we play video games with are often people we meet on the internet. They are often the same people we meet in real life. And, while they are very different from us, we often come to know them better, or at least know who they are better than we do.
The idea of being able to explore our own minds is an important one, and it is a major aspect of the game that we love. It is why we play video games. It is why we share videos of our virtual adventures on the internet. It’s why we talk about our video game experiences online. It’s why we share our gaming experiences with our friends and families. It’s why we play games online, and why we watch the same video games all the time.
But playing games is not the same as playing a game. It’s more than that. We think we’re playing a game, but we’re really playing ourselves.
